Acrylic on Layered Canvas
With Jeri Elliot
DATE HELD: Weekend of 9th and 10th of February 2013
PLACE: Held at the QUEENSTOWN ART CENTRE,
cnr Ballarat & Stanley Sts.
COST: for the 2 day course $120.oo
Students learnt how to create a layered canvas artwork - a layered acrylic painting giving their art a 3-dimensional quality.
This 2 day workshop jumped right in on the first day cutting the canvas - gluing layer upon layer. Layers were kept to a minimum (5 or 6) to allow the art to dry for painting the next day.
We created small artworks for this learning process - no larger than 300 x 300. Some created 2 or 3 paintings during this workshop.
Students came to the workshop ready with their images on a piece of tracing paper - ready to pin and cut just like a dress-maker. I suggested a still life or a flower - something simple - maybe a cat!
Most of the materials for the layering process were supplied - students brought their own canvas, brushes, and your acrylics.
