Queenstown Arts Society (QAS) is a registered charity and incorporated society run mainly on the volunteer input of local arts-passionate people, many of whom are artists/makers.

The Queenstown Arts Society grew out of the Whakatipu district’s centennial art exhibition in November 1962.

As an incorporated society, QAS was officially registered on 11 April 1986.

QAS is building community awareness of the arts, promoting and supporting artists and makers at every stage of their practice. We do this through:

Major art exhibitions that showcase a wide range of talent.

Smaller, permanently rotating exhibitions that keep art alive in the community - our QAS Laneway Showcase at Te Atamira.

Skill-based workshops for anyone keen to learn, create, and connect - like our QAS Life Drawing with Kasia Hebda programme.

Promoting our Artist Members through our channels and creating networking opportunities.

Our work bridges the gap for independent artists and makers, helping them develop their practice, build their profiles, and share their work with the public.

Queenstown Arts Society works on a membership basis and everyone is welcome to join us — from hobbyists to established professionals.
