Angus Watson

Angus enjoys colour and explores the joy of playing with colour putting one beside another to bounce off and make a stronger effect.

Often the effects are instant and suprising but its exciting. "Generally my hand is ahead of my brain".

He has been painting for 35 years and sent work to over 27 different countries.

His studio is open to the public and visitors are welcome at 355 Littles Road Dalefield. Angus loves to share his home and gallery with visitors. A phone call helps make sure he will be there.

Angus enjoys commissioned work.  “I paint all manner of subjects including people, horses, cows, dogs, boats, and holiday memories. All it takes is to provide a favourite photo and I can create a special painting.”

Angus holds an annual exhibition in January at his Dalefield gallery and the 2026 edition of his popular calendar will be available in November both online and from his studio.

“My gallery is open as long as I am home. Simply roll up the drive, call or email me to double check I am available – I am always happy to welcome people from both New Zealand and overseas and discuss my work. I also have a range of greetings cards plus a selection of  prints available for purchase which are a great souvenir of my work.”
